CAVES & VRCNH were originally created in response to area veterinarians. Over the years, we have surveyed local practitioners on what areas of specialized care should we concentrate on.
The first was after hours emergency care. CAVES was created and quickly expanded into critical care and 24/7 coverage. As with most referral practices, surgery and internal medicine were rated high on the surveys. To that end we created The Veterinary Referral Center of New Hampshire (VRCNH) and recruited a board certified surgeon and a board certified internist.
Services provided for referring veterinarians include:
- Internal Medicine
- Advanced Diagnostic Imaging
- i-131 Radioactive Iodine Therapy
- Critical & Intensive Care
- Diagnostic/Laboratory Services
If you are a veterinarian wishing to refer an animal to VRCNH, please download the referral form (PDF format) below.

CAVES also provides a continuing education e-mail service that we hope will benefit you in determining what emerging diseases are appearing in the area. Since we see the sickest of the sick and the unusual cases, we can track trends in the area's pet population. Click here to access the continuing education page.
