CAVES shares hospital space with the Veterinary Referral Center of New Hampshire (VRCNH), a comprehensive veterinary specialty facility and veterinary referral center. VRCNH was created due to the tremendous development of new information and diagnostic procedures within the veterinary field during the past decade. This has made it virtually impossible for any one veterinarian to be completely versed in every medical discipline.

While it's true that a general practitioner is licensed to perform medicine and surgery, it does not mean that he/she has acquired formal post-graduate training (residency) and practices the most current advanced procedures.
